  10. Washington, launching Mothers and Others for Pesticide Limits.
  11. The deeply private actress, who chairs the campaign, is alarmed
  12. at a report by the Natural Resources Defense Council that
  13. preschool children are routinely exposed to dangerous levels of
  14. chemicals in fruits and vegetables. Said Streep: "I feel as a
  15. parent I have absolutely no choice but to come out and speak out
  16. and join others to alert the populace at large." Streep added,
  17. "You don't want to feel you have to be a biochemist to do the
  18. shopping." It's not a plum role.
